Reaching for the stars

There is a clematis growing up the western side of our house that is pretty common, but is a workhorse and should be incorporated into everyone's landscape somewhere, even if only to climb freely up into a shrub. It never fails to perform and has been a profuse bloomer for me for the past 25 years.

This is a picture of Clematis "Jackmanii' growing up a trellis I put together and bolted to the side of the house.

Although you can't tell from the pics I have it climbs to the roof line, definitely a showy vine.

For anyone wanting to check out the different clematis available, there is a great website that is very easy to navigate. It's a UK site named Clematis on the web and the URL is http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/ Found this to be a very informative site, details the pruning groups, diseases, searches by name and color. Check it out.
